Oh, and this topic is even more painful. Although very interesting. Today we will talk about action. Usually, in projects like Genshin's, they don't bother with this, because the main goal is to extract more spins/prayers from the players. But I'm not crucifying myself here just like that, but because I really consider this work of Chinese gaming art worthy of attention. Yes, throw stones at me.
Genshin Impact's combat system is twofold. At first it seems that everything is simple here, and that the main thing is to choose the right elements and everything will be normal, but then you pump the level of the world to the fourth and understand that every fight turns into covering the screen or keys with sweat. And just in case this happens to you, my beautiful friend, I am writing this article. I will not give you advice on a specific path, because there can be thousands of options. However, I will explain everything to you in such a way that you yourself would understand and be able to see such beautiful numbers not only on screenshots.
Items in Genshin Impact
Let's start with the basics of the local combat mechanics and the world system in general. Elements. There are 7 of them in total. Each of them essentially reflects the element of Teivatu. Each element corresponds to one of the seven archons, local gods. Each of them has its own elemental slime, boss, etc.
The main thing in these elements is their reactions. The entire action game Genshin Impact is built on elemental reactions. Of course, you can damage only with physical damage, but you will never see such beautiful numbers as on the screenshot. So what kind of beast is this elemental reaction of yours?
Imagine that you set fire to vegetation with a flamethrower - this will be the lamentation reaction of Dendro and Pyro, that is, you have set fire to something. Or if the wind blows on the ice, it will blow with cold air, which will be the elemental reaction of Anemo and Krio - dispersion. These reactions have their own unique effects. For example, in the case of scattering, the air will spread fire or cold on other objects and enemies, which can be used for further combination with other elements.
There are many elementary reactions and not all of them are obvious, for example, I still don't understand why fire and lightning explode and cause the "overload" effect. Here is a table of all elemental reactions that are in the game:
Elemental reactions in Genshin can be divided into two types: Transformation reactions and Amplification reactions.
Elemental transformation reactions in Genshin Impact
These reactions include: Overwhelmed, broken, electrified, superconducting, swirling, burning, flourishing and hyperblooming. Speaking about the first type of reactions, 5 important points should be noted. These experiences can greatly simplify the game for you, and also save many hours of time that you would spend on pumping unnecessary artifacts:
- Elemental transformation reactions deal their own damage. That is, after applying an attack that causes this reaction, additional damage is applied, which is included as a separate hit.

The left number is the amount of damage from the elemental reaction of overload. The right number is the amount of damage from Bennett's blade itself.
- Transforming reactions have base damage. It is determined by the type of reaction itself and the level of the character who created this reaction.
- The base damage is multiplied by the percentage of the elemental mastery of the character that triggered the reaction. This information can be found in the “Attributes” tab on the “Details” page
- These reactions cannot deal critical damage, and their damage depends solely on the parameters listed in points 2 and 3. This means that becoming CRIT, CRIT Rate and ATK will have an impact equal to country 404's attempts to convince the UN that they are engaged in denazification.
- And last but not least. Transformation reactions completely ignore the target's defense level and deal full damage, but are deflected by elemental resistance.
Elementary amplification reactions
Amplification reactions include steam and melting Unlike transformation reactions, melts and vapors do not cause their own damage. Instead, they increase the damage of attacks that cause them by 2x or 1.5x depending on which element causes the reaction.
Talents in Genshin Impact
Talents are active and passive abilities of a character. That is, these are your actions on the battlefield and beyond. This can include combat and non-combat talents. Most characters have three combat skills (active) and three passive.
More details about the types of talents:
Active:
- Normal attack - a form of the character's normal attack
- Elemental Skill - Does not use elemental energy, but has a cooldown on use
- Alternative sprint is an alternative version of running, for example, Mona has
Elemental Blast is your character's ult, the strongest skill that uses energy.
Passive:
- 1st Ascension passive - usually improves one of the active skills.
- 4th Ascension passive - usually improves one of the active skills.
- Benefit passive talent - how the Apprentice spell can be useful outside of combat, such as using less stamina when running in Razor.
Each of the active talents can be improved with the help of materials that are unique to each character. It is also important to note that talent level upgrades are only possible with the required level of elevation of your character.
Who is interested in more detailed mathematics and numbers can refer to English wiki, as I already said, the people there know their business.
Elemental resonance
Elemental Resonance is a passive buff that depends on the composition of your path. Here I will very briefly show what they are.
Most likely, as a beginner you will have 4 different elements in the path and you will receive a buff on elemental resist.
Here are some important caveats to know about elemental resonance in Genshin Impact:
- In order for elemental resonance to take effect, you need to have at least four characters in the party.
- The maximum number of characters for an elemental reaction effect is 2, and it does not stack. This means that having, for example, 4 pyro characters in a party - you will not get a double buff, and your ATK will not increase by 50%. However, you can do two different resonances at the same time.
